Privacy Policies, Cookie Statement, Opt-Out Preferences

Connecticut business websites must now have a public policy statement regarding how visitors’ personal information is used. Cookie collection and Opt-out preferences must also be managed for each visitor. Personal websites are exempt in Connecticut, but you may be fined if the State identifies your site as non-compliant. My clients on a hosting/maintenance plan will be accommodated with free options of this software at no additional charge. All other clients will be charged my usual rate for the installation and setup time.

Custom Website design

Nott Marketing Services includes a header graphic and a custom browser icon for most of our clientele at no additional charge. Submissions of websites to Google and Bing are also free with publication.

SSL Certificates for secure browsing

For security, all sites I host will have SSL protection for the domains. That’s the “https” prefix seen in your web browser.

SSL: Secure Sockets Layer

SSL is standard technology for securing an internet connection by encrypting data sent between a website and a browser (or between two servers). It prevents hackers from seeing or stealing any information transferred, including personal or financial data.

TLS: Transport Layer Security

TLS is an updated, more secure version of SSL.

HTTPS: Hyper Text Protocol Secure

HTTPS appears in the URL when a website is secured by an SSL/TLS certificate. Users can view the details of the certificate, including the issuing authority and the corporate name of the website owner, by clicking the lock symbol on the browser bar.

Website Editing, Software Installation, Troubleshooting, and Periodic Updates

Design elements and features such as licensed wordpress themes and framework, custom icons, stock photography or vector designs, slideshow software, photograph optimization, complex subscription or email forms, Woocommerce shopping cart installation, and embedded media players will be invoiced at our prevailing hourly rates. Additional charges may be incurred when the client requests additional template adjustments after publication of the final project.
